Your first nights
Your first nights deserve a plan.
You do not have to learn every chart before your first shift. Get a few practical decisions out of the way, then adjust after you know what the week is really like.
Start with your sleep space
Daytime noise and light can compete with the time you have set aside for sleep. Look at what your space will be like when you get home: window light, interruptions, temperature and the people who share it. A sleep mask or a quieter routine may be more realistic than a complete bedroom makeover.
Give sleep a place in the day
Work backwards from the next shift and the commitments you cannot move. Include the journey and time to get ready. The Sleep Schedule Builder lets you preview a first-night or regular-shift window before you choose a plan.

Make the first break easier
Check what food storage and heating you will actually have. Decide what to bring and where your caffeine might fit before the middle of the night. The aim is a workable first shift, not a perfect new diet.

Tell home what changes
Name the specific times when you will be working or trying to sleep. Plan childcare, deliveries and regular commitments around what is possible. Share my week can show selected work and quiet times without asking everyone to understand your Atlas.

After the first shift, record reality
Record completed sleep and, if useful, how you feel. If the plan did not fit, use that information to adjust. The app is there to support the next decision; it does not grade your first week.
Read the sleep and recovery guide
Use the worker guide for a fuller explanation of preparing for nights and reviewing your routine after you start.
