13. Optional calendar connections

If you connect Google Calendar, NightOwling requests read-only access to your calendar list and calendar events. We use the list to let you choose a calendar. We then read events from your chosen calendar so you can review which represent work shifts. Only events or recurring series you select, or all events in a calendar you confirm contains work shifts, are applied to your NightOwling schedule. NightOwling does not create, edit or delete events in Google Calendar.

Imported shifts help display and update your schedule and provide schedule-related planning and Atlas guidance. Schedule information may also help time notifications under your current notification settings and avoid interrupting your planned sleep. We retain selected event identifiers, titles, timing and cancellation status, together with your selections, connection details and synchronization history. Full event reviews are cleared after you apply your choices; abandoned review snapshots are scheduled for removal after 24 hours. Accepted shifts and schedule-change history remain part of your account.

We store an encrypted Google refresh token so your chosen connection can check for updates while you are away. Connecting a calendar does not enable notifications automatically. Disconnecting in NightOwling stops further checks and deletes our saved connection credential; previously accepted shifts remain saved. You can also remove NightOwling’s Google access through your Google Account.

Your account data export includes saved connection and schedule information, but excludes connection credentials. You can request account deletion in Privacy Settings or contact contact@nightowling.com. The account-deletion flow explains its cancellation period.

14. Google data and Limited Use

Our handling of Google data follows Google’s API Services User Data Policy and applicable Workspace requirements, including Limited Use.

Google Calendar information, including information derived from it, is used for the user-facing schedule, planning and guidance features described above. We do not sell this information, use it to select or personalize advertisements, or use it to train or improve general-purpose artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

Service providers may process the information only as needed to operate these features, subject to the same use restrictions. Other disclosures are limited to security needs, applicable legal requirements, or a business transfer with the consent required by Google’s policies. Human access is limited to your specific permission, necessary security or legal purposes, or permitted aggregate internal operations.

These narrower restrictions govern Google Calendar information, including derived information, over any general advertising, marketing or third-party technology provisions elsewhere in this policy.

By using our Services (including our mobile apps), you acknowledge and agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our Services.
